"Caring for my daughter with special needs often felt like a blessing and curse. At my first writing class with Laura Davis, I read the answers to the writing prompts through tears, my heart cracking open with every word. A weight was being lifted from my weary shoulders. Attending Laura's classes and retreats are the best 'interventions' I've ever done for my child and myself."

--Lisa Buell

Parenting a child with special needs can be stressful and isolating. The incredible demands our children place on us leave us with little if any time for self-reflection, self-care, or self-expression. Yet if the caregiver is burnt out, the whole family suffers. It is essential that we carve out time to take care of ourselves.

Writing in a safe and confidential environment with a gifted, compassionate facilitator and a roomful of other parents in your shoes can be incredibly healing. Give yourself the healing gift of time and space for yourself. Spend a morning exploring your struggles, fears and hopes in a writing circle with other special needs parents.

Everyone is welcome to attend. You do not have to consider yourself a writer or have any previous writing experience to attend.

"While the tale of how we suffer, and how we are delighted, and how we may triumph is never new, it always must be heard. There isn't any other tale to tell, it's the only light we've got in all this darkness."

 -- James Baldwin

"During the times I am in the trenches with my special needs son, I cherish the freedom I find in Laura's workshops to write down my stories. They flow out of me onto the page and the stress and pain and tears comes out with them. The deep listening Laura and the others provide completes the healing so I leave each session feeling seen and valued for the invisible work that I do everyday. It is the best gift that I can give to myself and my family."

--Terresa Lauer, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

"Writing with Laura Davis is about possibilities. Not about being published or receiving accolades, but the possibility of discovery: discovery of my creativity, my joys and sorrows, the discovery of me.”

--Alison Liszewski

“Laura calls her class a journey, and it is just that, a journey into the depths of self. Words are the vehicle and she is the guide. Laura has the insight, the patience, and the steadiness that guides even the most unsure among us out into the open and onto the page.”

--Zoe Elizabeth

“While in class I was able to relax and be led by Laura on a journey of discovery that was immensely enjoyable, satisfying, and enriching to all areas of my life.”

--Terresa Lauer
