Payments, Cancellations and Refunds
Trip Cost and Fees: $3669 for double occupancy accommodations. This does not include round trip airfare to Bali. Single room accommodations may be available for an additional $650 (availability is on a first-come-first-served basis).
Deposit and Payment Schedule: A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due with registration. A second payment of $1335 is due December 1, 2017 and the balance of $1334 (as well as the single supplement and payment in full for the optional trip to Java) will be due March 30, 2018.
Bali Price Includes: The trip price is based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room with private bath. Trip cost also includes airport transfers (if you travel at the same time as the group), full breakfast, meals, and activities listed in the itinerary, morning meditation and movement classes with Evelyn Hall, all writing classes with Laura Davis, all excursions listed in the itinerary, services of Made Surya, our Balinese guide, several orientation and language sessions, lectures on Balinese culture.
Bali Not Included: Round trip airfare to Denpasar, Bali, laundry, tips ($30-$50), airport transfers if you do not travel at the same time as the group, snorkeling equipment ($20), medical/travel insurance, souvenir shopping, massage, spa services, any other personal expenses, and meals not specifically included in itinerary (meals range from $4-$8 each).
Java Supplement Price Includes: The price of the trip is based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room with private bath. Trip cost also includes private transfers and tours as per the itinerary, meals as indicated in the itinerary, entrance fees, donations, parking, and English-speaking guide.
Java Not Included: Round-trip airfare between Denpasar and Yoyajakarta, laundry, tips, medical/travel insurance, souvenir shopping, massage, spa services, any other personal expenses, and meals not specifically included in itinerary.
Itinerary: All activities on this tour are subject to change. There may be unique opportunities we can take advantage of: cremation festivities or other rites of passage, temple festivals or purification ceremonies. Participating in one of these opportunities will preclude doing something that’s on the itinerary or change the sequence of activities. Weather may also cause changes to our itinerary. If an activity must be cancelled, another similar activity will be substituted. There will be no refunds for any activities participants do not participate in or attend, and anyone who leaves the tour itinerary at any time FOR ANY REASON is on their own.
Cancellations and Refunds: The initial $1000 deposit is non-refundable. A cancellation fee of $1500 will be collected between December 1st and January 31. Between February 1st and March 29th, $2335 will be retained. On or after March 30th, when the final payment is due, any cancellations will result in the loss of all monies received and there will be no refunds. Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including personal emergencies.
We reserve the right to cancel the trip if it is not meeting the trip minimum (If we cancel, everything you've paid will be refunded).
There will be no refunds for leaving the retreat early or arriving late. Further, there are no refunds for any part of the program that you do not attend or participate in. Although we do our best to avoid this, it may occasionally be necessary for The Writer’s Journey, LLC, or Danu Tours to cancel a retreat due to insufficient registration or any other cause. If a trip is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified at least 60 days in advance, and your entire payment will be refunded to you within 14 days after the cancellation. Refund of payments made constitutes full settlement, and releases Laura Davis and The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours from any further liability. In the rare event that the Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours LLC must cancel a trip, Laura Davis, The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours are not responsible for any additional expenses incurred, such as non-refundable airline tickets or passport fees.
Trip insurance is required to protect your investment and we recommend you purchase it within three weeks of today’s booking. Travel insurance will be the only way for you to get a full refund should you need to cancel. In addition to medical travel insurance, you should choose a plan that covers trip cancellation in case illness or injury prevents you from going on the trip. If you are under 70 year old and do not need pre-existing conditions covered, you can easily get a policy online from World Nomads, which is priced at $89 for a two week trip. If your needs are more complex, our travel agent can help you find a suitable policy. We recommend that you purchase it as soon as possible after booking the trip. Most companies require that you get the insurance soon after signing up, so the sooner the better. And if you have pre-existing conditions, you generally are required to purchase your insurance within three weeks of your initial deposit.
We highly recommend that you choose an insurance plan that covers medical coverage, trip evacuation, and trip cancellation in case illness or injury prevents you from going on the trip. Your initial deposit or this trip is not refundable and further refunds are only available on a graduated basis according to our cancellation policy. On or after March 30, the only refunds offered for this trip will be through travel insurance. Trip cancellation insurance is the best way to protect your investment.
More information about insurance will be available online as soon as you complete your registration and will also be sent out in your confirmation packet.
We will photograph group activities for use in brochure/publicity. Please notify us if we are not free to use photographs of you.
Organizer - Participant Contract
The Writer’s Journey,LLC, Laura Davis, Evelyn Hall, Danu Tours, Judy Slattum and Made Surya, and other cooperating agencies act only in the capacity of agent for the participation in all matters relating to transportation and/or all other related travel services and assume no responsibility whatsoever for injury, loss or damage, to person or property in connection with any service, including but not limited to damages resulting directly from: acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays and expenses arising from quarantine, medical emergencies and evacuation, strikes, thefts, pilferage, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, government restrictions or regulation, discrepancies or change in transit over which it has no control. On advancement of deposit the depositor agrees to be bound by the above recited terms and conditions. Prices subject to change without notice, due to currency fluctuations and/or other causes.
Cancellation Fees and Penalties are defined in the pre-tour information. No partial refund or credits will be given for unused services. The organizer reserves the right to accept, retain, or cancel any prospective or actual member of the tour at any time, at any place, and for any reason, at our discretion. If any participant is removed from the tour, a proportionate refund will be made. Organizer will not reimburse participants for any substitute arrangements they make on their own. Deviations from the pre-paid itinerary are at the participants’ expense.
INSURANCE: TRAVEL INSURANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS TRIP. BAGGAGE IS CARRIED ENTIRELY AT OWNER'S RISK; THE WRITER’S JOURNEY, LLC, AND ITS AGENTS AND AFFILIATES ASSUME NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR DAMAGE, LOSS OR DELAY OF PROPERTY BEYOND OUR CONTROL. TRIP CANCELLATION WILL COVER YOUR LOSSES ON NON-REFUNDABLE AIR AND LAND COSTS OR TRIPS CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS.
Payments: Trip cost is based on a minimum number of ten participants. If the minimum number is not met, The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours reserves the right to cancel the trip or to apply an additional surcharge to costs. In the case of a trip cancellation, you will receive a full refund. The Writer’s Journey, LLC, is not responsible for any additional expenses incurred, such as nonrefundable airline tickets or passport fees.
Release and Assumption of Risk
I am aware that during the trip that I am participating in under the arrangements of The Writer’s Journey LLC, Danu Tours, and their agents or associates, certain risks and dangers may occur, including, but not limited to the hazards of hiking, snorkelling, accident or illness, forces of nature and travel by air, automobile, bus, train or other conveyance. I consent to and agree not to hold The Writer’s Journey LLC and Danu Tours responsible should any of their suppliers fail to provide the travel services I have purchased. I, on behalf of my representatives, heirs, successors, and assigns do hereby completely release and forever discharge The Writer’s Journey LLC, Danu Tours, any affiliate, and their present and former members, principals, contractors, agents, employees, successors, and assigns from all claims, rights, demands, actions, obligations, liabilities, and causes of action of every kind and character, known or unknown, mature or unmatured, which may have now or in the future arising from any act or omission or condition occurring related to the travel services which I have purchased. The terms hereof shall serve as a release and assumption of risk in addition on behalf of any minors accompanying me. I have read and agreed to these conditions, especially noting the policy on cancellation and refunds on this sheet. I am aware that should I choose not to purchase insurance coverage as put forth under "Insurance:" above, I will be liable for all costs in the case of cancellation, trip delays, damage or loss of baggage and medical emergencies whatsoever. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the making, performance or interpretation thereof, shall be settled by binding arbitration in Santa Cruz, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association then existing, and judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction over the subject matter of the controversy.
