Payments, Cancellations and Refunds

Trip Cost and Fees: $2150.00 (US) for a double; $2850.00 (US) for a single occupancy room. Single supplement on a first come, first served basis. Round trip airfare is not included. Late Registration (after March 1st, 2017): $2250.00 (US) for a single occupancy room and $2950.00 (US) for a double.

Payments: A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is required at the time of booking. Another $500.00 (non-refundable) is due on March 1st, 2017, and the balance is due April 1st, 2017. There will be no refunds after May 1st. If you have committed to the workshop, you are responsible for the full fee, except by special arrangement. If the balance is not paid in full by the due date, we will regard the booking as canceled. Late bookings, after March 1st, must be paid in full at the time they are made.

Price Includes: The trip price is based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room with private bath. Trip cost also includes full breakfast, excursions and meals listed in the itinerary, seminars on Minoan art and religion, Greek mythology and poetry, history and drama, services of guides, entrance fees, pre-tour information and online community, several orientation and language sessions, all writing workshops and yoga classes. The trip price includes land arrangements and inter-island air, but a rise in fuel taxes may influence the final price. Not Included: Transportation to and from the retreat, laundry, tips, trip cancellation insurance, meals not specifically included in itinerary, extra days you stay at Mabel Dodge and any accompanying meals (if you arrive early or stay late).

Itinerary: All activities on this tour are subject to change. The itinerary may be adjusted slightly to take advantage of special events that may occur. No one is obliged to attend any tours, meetings, excursions, or seminar. However, no refunds will be made for any missed activities. If you leave the tour at any time, any time, for any reason, you are on your own.

Cancellations and Refund Policy: The initial $500 non-refundable deposit will be forfeited in all cases. All in-country airfares, once purchased by Danu Tours on your behalf are also non-refundable. Any cancellations made on or after April 1st, 2017, when the final payment is due, will result in the loss of all monies received. Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including personal emergencies. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if it is not meeting the trip minimum (If we cancel everything you've paid will be refunded).

Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect your investment. There will be no refunds for leaving the retreat early or arriving late. Further, there are no refunds for any part of the program that you do not attend or participate in. Although we do our best to avoid this, it may occasionally be necessary for The Writer’s Journey, LLC, or Danu Tours to cancel a retreat due to insufficient registration or any other cause. If a trip is canceled due to low enrollment, you will be notified at least 60 days in advance, and your entire payment will be refunded to you within 14 days after the cancellation. Refund of payments made constitutes full settlement, and releases Laura Davis and The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours from any further liability. In the rare event that the Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours must cancel a trip, Laura Davis, The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours are not responsible for any additional expenses incurred, such as non-refundable airline tickets or passport fees.

Trip cancellation and medical evacuation insurance are strongly recommended to protect your investment in this retreat. Our travel agency, Pacific Harbor Travel, can sell you a policy that will provide you with comprehensive coverage and excellent rates. This coverage can cover your investment in the retreat regardless of how you travel there. You will be given more information about this insurance as soon as you’re done with your registration.

NOTE: We recommend you purchase your travel insurance as soon as possible after today’s booking. If you have any pre-existing health conditions, you must purchase your travel insurance within three weeks of paying your deposit.

As airfare is not included in the cost of this package, you will need to insure the cost of your air ticket for which there will be an additional premium. Please notify Linda at Pacific Harbor Travel with information regarding your airfare within 21 days of purchase of your airline ticket to ensure proper insurance coverage.

If you extend your trip and you want to insure the extension you must notify Linda within 21 days of the initial deposit of your extension in order to qualify for pre-existing conditions. You can reach our agent:

Photo Release

We will photograph group activities for use in brochure/publicity. Please notify us if we are not free to use photographs of you.

Organizer - Participant Contract

The Writer’s Journey, LLC, Laura Davis, Danu Tours, David Colin Carr and Nancy London, and other cooperating agencies act only in the capacity of agent for the participation in all matters relating to transportation and/or all other related travel services and assume no responsibility whatsoever for injury, loss or damage, to person or property in connection with any service, including but not limited to damages resulting directly from: acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays and  expenses arising from quarantine, medical emergencies and evacuation, strikes, thefts, pilferage, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, government restrictions or regulation, discrepancies or change in transit over which it has no control. On advancement of deposit the depositor agrees to be bound by the above recited terms and conditions. Prices subject to change without notice, due to currency fluctuations and/or other causes.

Cancellation Fees and Penalties are defined in the pre-tour information. No partial refund or credits will be given for unused services. The organizer reserves the right to accept, retain, or cancel any prospective or actual member of the tour at any time, at any place, and for any reason, at our discretion. If any participant is removed from the tour, a proportionate refund will be made. Organizer will not reimburse participants for any substitute arrangements they make on their own. Deviations from the pre-paid itinerary are at the participants’ expense.

INSURANCE: WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR BAGGAGE WITH A SHORT TERM TRAVELERS INSURANCE POLICY. BAGGAGE IS CARRIED ENTIRELY AT OWNERS RISK; THE WRITER’S JOURNEY, LLC, AND ITS AGENTS AND AFFILIATES ASSUME NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR DAMAGE, LOSS OR DELAY OF PROPERTY BEYOND OUR CONTROL. TRIP CANCELLATION WILL COVER YOUR LOSSES ON NON-REFUNDABLE AIR AND LAND COSTS OR TRIPS CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS.

Payments: Trip cost is based on a minimum number of ten participants. If the minimum number is not met, The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours reserves the right to cancel the trip or to apply a surcharge to costs. In the case of a trip cancellation, you will receive a full refund. The Writer’s Journey, LLC, is not responsible for any additional expenses incurred, such as nonrefundable airline tickets or passport fees.

Release and Assumption of Risk

I am aware that during the trip that I am participating in under the arrangements of The Writer’s Journey LLC, and Danu Tours and their agents or associates, certain risks and dangers may occur, including, but not limited to the hazards of hiking, snorkeling, accident or illness, forces of nature and travel by air, automobile, bus, train or other conveyance. I consent to and agree not to hold The Writer’s Journey, LLC, and Danu Tours responsible should any of their suppliers fail to provide the travel services I have purchased.  I, on behalf of my representatives, heirs, successors, and assigns do hereby completely release and forever discharge The Writer’s Journey, LLC, Danu Tours, any affiliate, and their present and former members, principals, contractors, agents, employees, successors, and assigns from all claims, rights, demands, actions, obligations, liabilities, and causes of action of every kind and character, known or unknown, mature or unmatured, which may have now or in the future arising from any act or omission or condition occurring related to the travel services which I have purchased.  The terms hereof shall serve as a release and assumption of risk in addition on behalf of any minors accompanying me. I have read and agreed to these conditions, especially noting the policy on cancellation and refunds on this sheet. I am aware that should I choose not to purchase insurance coverage as put forth under “Insurance:” above, I will be liable for all costs in the case of cancellation, trip delays, damage or loss of baggage and medical emergencies whatsoever. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the making, performance or interpretation thereof, shall be settled by binding arbitration in Santa Cruz, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association then existing, and judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction over the subject matter of the controversy.
