Art on the Go

We started with art again this morning. I’ll be teaching our first writing class this afternoon, but we wanted to be out painting before the day got hot.

When we gathered with our art kits on the street this morning outside our hotel, Brenda Porter handed us each a swatch of watercolor paper with one of the colors in our palette. I got burnt sienna.

Then, on our walk to the Plaza Mayor where we going to do a color study, she said to look around in our environment to see if we could find all the gradations of “our” color. It was fun! Scroll down to see the burnt sienna I spotted on our walk.

Then when we circled up again, we all held up our swatch and identified where we saw “our color” in our immediate environment.

At the plaza we played with mixing our paints to create the colors we saw all around us.
