Morning Market

Yogykarta, Java

Walk with me on my early morning stroll, just two blocks from our hotel.

Coming to the market.

6:45 AM

Parking lot.

Carving jackfruit.

Jackfruit remains.

Fish seller. She had a beautiful smile and was very friendly.

Chicken seller.

Time out.

Speckled eggs.

Blue eggs. Cooked?

Banana fruit. These are eaten, too.

We only saw a couple of flower sellers. I wonder what they’re used for. We have not seen a single offering since we came to Java.

Sharon and I had a sweet talk with this pedicab driver.

Yes, you can take my picture.

He’s 88 years old.

Used fish boxes.

Making coconut milk and shredded coconut.

Tumeric root.

Palm sugar.

Noodle saleswoman. Loved watching her in action.

Scale.

Clearly, the necks were slit.

Bananas.

Brooms.

Very cute one piece hijab/dress combo.

Central Java mannequins.
